Ventura Concert Series Plan

The Ventura, Calif., City Council is hosting public meetings to hear residents’ opinions on a proposed concert series to be held at City Hall’s parking lot.

The series of up to 12 concerts under a 1,900-capacity tent would begin July 1 and run through Oct. 31, according to the Ventura County Star. Reps for The Fitzgerald Hartley Company and Nederlander Concerts, who would run the events, are working with the city on fire safety, traffic, parking, noise and other issues.

Community Development Director Jeff Lambert told the paper that of about 20 people who attended the April 30 meeting “there were concerns, but not fatal flaws.”

The council has approved the plan, which reportedly could generate an estimated $1.5 million in local spending.
The next public meeting is scheduled for May 24.
