‘Jersey Boys’ Sets NZ Record

The Australian production of “Jersey Boys” set a box office record in Auckland for second week of trading.

It took in more than NZ$1.9 million (US$1.55 million), beating the previous record by more than $500,000.
Its April 26 performance was its 1,000th in Australasia.

One of its producers, Rodney Rigby, said, “The 1,000th show not only marks the great success of the production in New Zealand and Australia, but, of equal importance, recognizes the outstanding contribution of everybody associated with the production worldwide.”

More than 1 million people saw the show in Melbourne (July 2009 to August 2010) and Sydney (September 2010 to December 2011).

After Auckland, the Four Seasons-themed musical heads to Brisbane July 13 and Adelaide Oct. 27.

Tickets for Adelaide went on sale April 30, with 9,500 on the waiting list for six months for first access to priority booking.
