Freedom Hill To Reopen

Macomb County says Freedom Hill Amphitheatre is scheduled to reopen this summer.

The announcement was made Friday by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.

Freedom Hill Amphitheatre has been closed since 2009 and the surrounding county park area has been closed since 2010 in part because of budget cuts.

The county says the venue’s operator Hillside Productions is to reopen it under the terms of a previous agreement it had in place with Macomb County.

Hillside has agreed to pay Macomb County more than $500,000 to settle various litigation, according to the Detroit News.

No concerts were held at the shed last year or 2010, and a limited season was hosted there in 2009. Live Nation sued Hillside Productions for five concerts it promoted at the shed in 2009, saying it was owed $320,000 and that Hillside “confiscated and converted” LN’s money.
