Attorney Alan Mintz Dies

Industry attorney Alan Mintz died of acute myelogenous leukemia May 2. He was 58.

Mintz started his career at Ziffren Brittenham LLP in 1986 and worked with acts including Nirvana, Sheryl Crow, Aerosmith, Jane’s Addiction, Michael Jackson and others.

Mintz was part of the legal team that handled MJ’s acquisition of ATV Music, including the Beatles catalog. He also worked at Sony Music, had his own management company, worked as head of A&R for Starbucks’ entertainment division and later Red Light Entertainment.
