Last month the band put out its first independent release and sixth studio album over all, Underwater Sunshine (or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation). If you’re a fan who hasn’t already picked up the album, you can check out four tracks now by downloading them through BitTorrent. The tunes – which include “Untitled (Love Song),” “Like Teenage Gravity,” “Hospital,” and “Meet on the Ledge” – are available as a BitTorent Bundle along with lead singer Adam Duritz’s liner notes and high-resolution album artwork.

“It’s a way to connect with anyone anywhere anytime,” Duritz said about the partnership with BitTorrent. “It’s the cure for Babel. These are our new radio stations. Nobody’s carrying a boombox on their shoulder waiting for you to tell them what they can listen to anymore. But everyone has an iPod in their pocket and a choice. Everyone. So we’re going to give 150 million people some songs they can fit in their pocket and then let them choose for themselves. Listen once, twice, a thousand times, or not at all. It’s up to you.”

Log onto Twitter May 15 for an interview with Duritz and BitTorrent at 1 p.m. PST. Follow @CountingCrows and @BitTorrent or track the hashtag #crowchat. If you have any questions for Duritz, submit them before the interview on BitTorrent’s blog or Facebook wall.

Presale tickets for select dates go on sale May 15. Some shows are on sale now.
