Guided By Voices 2012 Dates

Guided By Voices has some more touring to do to go along with its three new 2012 albums. New dates are scheduled for July and September.

In 2004 frontman Robert Pollard announced the group was breaking up after one last tour and releasing Half Smiles of the Decomposed. His statement noted that “this feels like the last album for Guided By Voices. I’ve always said that when I make a record that I’m totally satisfied with as befitting a final album, then that will be it. And this is it.”

The 2004 album was definitely not GBV’s last set of tunes. In January the group put out Let’s Go Eat the Factory. Next is the June 12 release of Class Clown Spots a UFO. Bears for Lunch is due out in late November.

GBV’s 2010 reunion with the “classic ‘93-’96 lineup” turned out to be more than just a fall 2010 tour.

After playing more than a dozen gigs throughout 2011, the band’s first show of 2012 is a May 18 performance at Nelsonville Music Festival in Nelsonville, Ohio, at Robbins Crossing at Hocking College. Previously announced festival appearances include July 7 at CBGB Festival as part of Central Park Summerstage in New York City, July 15 at Bunbury Music Festival in Cincinnati, and Sept. 21 at DeLuna Festival in Pensacola Beach, Fla.

New dates are scheduled at Philadephia’s Trocadero Theatre July 6; Cleveland Heights, Ohio, at Grog Shop Sept. 14; Orlando, Fla., at The Beacham Sept. 19; New Orleans’ One Eyed Jacks Sept. 22; Houston’s Warehouse Live – Ballroom Sept. 24 and Lawrence, Kan., at Granada Theatre Sept. 28.

Tickets are on sale now.
