George Jones Back In The Hospital
An announcement on the 80-year-old singer/songwriter’s website says the Country Music Hall of Fame member was admitted into a Nashville area hospital. He is undergoing testing and evaluation for a lingering upper respiratory infection that has been pestering Jones for nearly two months.
The statement notes that show scheduled through June “will be rescheduled, where possible. No more details are available at this time.”
Jones was supposed to take the stage Friday, May 25 in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., at the Loretta Lynn Ranch. Dates in June that are now on hold include Huntington, W.Va., at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena June 2; Lancaster, Pa., at the American Music Theatre June 3; Fountain Hills, Ariz., at the Fort McDowell Casino June 15; Peoria, Ill., at the Peoria Civic Center Arena June 23; and Fort Wayne, Ind., at the Embassy Theatre June 29.
The country legend was hospitalized with an upper respiratory infection for nearly a week in late March and early April. Doctors ordered him to rest at home and he postponed dates in late April through May 20.
