Well, live on the East Coast, that is. Other parts of the country will have to settle for a taped delay broadcast. Such are the limitations of time zones.

The always-free “Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular” takes place at Boston’s Charles River Esplanade July 4 (natch) with CBS telecasting the festivities at 10 p.m. (EDT).

Emmy-winning actor Chiklis returns to host the event. Chiklis stars in the new CBS drama “Vegas” but you might remember him best as Ben Grimm in two “Fantastic Four” movies, his portrayal of Jerome “Curly” Howard on the 1999 “Three Stooges” television movie or the patriarch on the 2011 TV series “No Ordinary Family.”

Of course you also get the renowned Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the direction of Keith Lockhart.

In its 39th year, the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance. The company will carry the cost of the final 20 minutes of the telecast so that folks watching at home won’t see the rockets’ red glare interrupted by those pesky commercials.
