Strong Start For Coldplay Tickets

Tickets for Coldplay’s mid-November visit downunder had a strong start when they went on sale May 25.

The first Sydney show, Nov. 17 at the 45,500-capacity Allianz Stadium, sold out in 10 minutes, leading promoter Chugg Entertainment to add a second for Nov. 18.

The addition meant that the British band is in line to move a total of 240,000 tickets – making it the band’s biggest trek downunder.

Promoter Michael Chugg expected the entire tour to sell 200,000 tickets.

“I couldn’t be happier at the public’s response to Coldplay’s first stadium tour in Australia,” Chugg said. “There is no stopping this band.”

Coldplay’s other stops include the 47,000-capacity Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, Nov. 10; the 53,300-capacity Etihad Stadium in Melbourne Nov. 13 and the 52,500-capacity Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane Nov. 21.

Scalper tickets were getting up to 300 percent above face value.
