Sonisphere Breaks Spanish Record

The fourth Spanish edition of Sonisphere showed the traveling heavy rock festival is still popular in many parts of mainland Europe.

Over the two days of this year’s festival, which was once again on the 50,000-capacity Getafe Park site in Madrid, it attracted 92,450 fans. That easily smashes last year’s previous record attendance of 70,540.

There were 38,313 for a bill that included Soundgarden, The Offspring, Limp Bizkit and Machine Head.

On the second day, when Metallica was the headliner, 54,137 people came. Slayer, Mastodon, Evanescence and Gojira were the other main acts on the bill.

The other acts playing the Spanish Sonisphere May 25-26 included Within Temptation, Paradise Lost, Fear Factory, and Children Of Bodom.
