All it took was Justin Bieber announcing he was doing a freebie at Oslo’s Opera House to send Norway’s teens into a frenzy as “hordes of screaming girls,” gathered on rooftops or stood in line hoping to catch a glimpse of the star, reports London’s Sun newspaper.

But they didn’t come only by land. Girls also approached the venue by sea, filling small boats in Oslo’s harbor to near-sinking capacity. Meanwhile, back on dry land hordes of fans brought traffic to a halt.

As police considered canceling the event, The Bieb took to Twitter in an attempt to diffuse the situation.

“Norway,” Bieber tweeted, “please listen to the police. I don’t want anyone getting hurt. I want everything to go to plan but your safety must come first…for the show to happen you must all listen to the police.”

Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, echoed his young star’s plea.

“The streets are filled,” Braun tweeted. “The bridges are closed. It is out of control. We may have to start the show early or they will cancel.”

The show eventually did happen with Bieber performing four of his hits along with two new songs – “All Around The World” and “As Long As You Love Me.”
The concert will be part of the upcoming “Justin’s Around The World TV Special.”
