The new album – Freak Puke – is being touted as a Melvins LITE project, with a lineup featuring Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantomas and Tomahawk).

“The Melvins have a long history of mixing up our lineups and I think that’s what has kept us relevant for so long,” Osborne said in a statement. “Consider the Freak Puke record the fifth side of the four-sided Melvins triangle.”

The tour’s routing has the Melvins hitting all 50 states plus Washington, D.C. After playing a couple of shows with Hammerhead in Los Angeles at the Subliminal projects Gallery June 8 and June 30, the Melvins-Lite “Northern Excursion Tour” begins in Rochester, N.Y., at Water Street Music Hall July 1 and comes to a close in Honolulu at The Republik Oct. 25. In between, the band stops in the 48 remaining states plus the District Of Columbia.

With Retox appearing on all “Northern Excursion” dates, the Melvins say they are attempting to “break the world record for the fastest tour of the United States by a band.”
