Rosemond Guilty

A federal jury voted June 5 to convict hip-hop mogul James Rosemond on federal charges that he used his music management company as a front for a drug-trafficking operation out of New York.

Rosemond, CEO of Czar Entertainment, was arrested by Drug Enforcement Administration officers last year on charges he used musicians’ equipment and instrument cases to smuggle cocaine and drug money between Los Angeles and New York.

The arrest was the culmination of a year-long DEA investigation.

Rosemond, whose company previously represented artists such as The Game, Akon, Salt-N-Pepa and Brandy, denied knowledge of the drug ring and claimed he was being framed.

Gerald L. Shargel, Rosemond’s attorney, told The Wrap his client plans to appeal the decision.
