Vampire Weekend Returns To The Road & Studio

Vampire Weekend is getting ready for its headline set at Pitchfork Music Festival with a few new gigs in the Midwest.

An announcement on the band’s website points out that the new dates are the band’s first U.S. shows in nearly two years. The indie rockers last took the stage in Brazil in February 2011.

Since then Vampire Weekend has been writing tunes for the follow-up to its sophomore album, 2010’s Contra. The band members have also been exploring other creative projects. Chris Baio put out his debut solo EP, Sunburn, and Rostam Batmanglij scored the feature film, “Sound Of My Voice,” directed by his brother.

The new gigs are scheduled July 12 in Cleveland at House of Blues and July 13 in Indianapolis at the Egyptian Room. Vampire Weekend headlines Pitchfork Music Festival at Chicago’s Union Park July 15.

A presale for Cleveland begins June 7 and Indianapolis’ presale begins June 8. Tickets go on sale to the general public June 9.
