Zamboni Driver Put On Ice

The ice wasn’t the only thing in rough shape at Apple Valley, Minn.’s Hayes Arena in January – just ask the Zamboni driver.

Joel Bruss was sentenced to two years’ probation May 30 after pleading guilty to one charge of misdemeanor drunken driving – in a Zamboni, on the ice.

Prosecutors said Bruss, who was reported to police by witnesses who said he was driving the ice-cleaning machine erratically, opted for a urine test and clocked in at four times the legal alcohol limit for driving.

Police said they found Bruss, and his Zamboni, stuck halfway off the ice when they arrived at the scene of the crime.

Bruss reportedly had three prior convictions for DUI.
