SMG To Manage Neb. Arena

The Lincoln City Council approved SMG’s contract to operate the Pinnacle Bank Arena under construction in Nebraska. SAVOR Food & Beverage’s contract was also approved.

SMG is no stranger to Lincoln, also managing the city-owned Pershing Center in the city.

Along with the $179 million, 16,000-seat arena, SMG will also manage the outdoor Pinewood Bowl Theatre in Lincoln’s Pioneers Park and manage a nearly 500,000-square-foot festival space and parking arena northwest of the new arena.

Pinnacle Bank Arena will be home to University of Nebraska men and women’s basketball teams, and host concerts and other events.

“We have tapped into the entertainment programming expertise of Tom Lorenz and SMG and have added some additional City venues in this contract for SMG to manage for us,” Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler said.

Pinnacle Bank Arena is scheduled to open in September 2013.
