Dream Theater Heads South

The prog-metal band launches an excursion beginning in Guatemala City in August and keeps on going ‘til it reaches in Brasilia in September.

Unveiling a lengthy schedule that features shows in Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil, Dream Theater is touring in support of its Grammy-nominated album A Dramatic Turn Of Events.

Central American stops include the opener in Guatemala City at the Forum Mundo E Aug. 8; San Salvador in El Salvador at Anfiteatro Aug. 10; and San Jose, Costa Rica, at Palacio de los Deportes Aug. 12.

Dream Theater’s first South American gig happens in Bogota Colombia at the Palacio de los Deportes Aug. 15. Other S.A. stops include Cordoba, Argentina, at La Vieja Usina Aug. 17; two nights in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at Luna Park Aug. 19-20; and Santiago, Chile, at Espacio Riesco, Aug. 22.

Five Brazil dates follow: Porto Alegre at Pepsi On Stage Aug. 24; Sao Paulo at Credicard Hall Aug. 26; Belo Horizonte at Chevrolet Hall Aug. 29, Rio de Janeiro at Citibank Hall Rio Aug. 30 and Brasilia at Centro De Convenções Ulysses Guimarães Sept. 1.

By the time Dream Theater rolls into Brasilia the band will have been on the road for almost a full year. And if you think that after more than 20 years the band has played pretty much everywhere, think again. Dream Theater’s stops in Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica will mark the band’s first appearances in those countries.
