Former MCA President Barnett Dies

Lawrence Barnett, former president of MCA Talent Agency, died June 11. He was 98.

Barnett spent 27 years with MCA and represented many top acts including Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Guy Lombardo, Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Jack Benny, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Marlon Brando and Ronald Reagan.

After leaving MCA in 1963, Barnett held top positions with Chris-Craft Industries, United Television, General Artists Corp. and Warner Communications.

Barnett was also involved with charitable institutions including the ALS Association that seeks a cure for Lou Gehrig’s Disease, according to Variety.
