Rolling Stones Tour Rumblings

The Rolling Stones may do at least one date this year and could possibly tour in 2013.

At least, that’s what Rolling Stone says. Quoting “Stones insiders,” the publication said The Stones could do one show later this year to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary. RS quotes the same source as saying the band is still considering touring in 2013.

Rolling Stone points out that the band is scheduled to meet in London in July to discuss possible performances and quotes Keith Richards as saying, “It’s all very hush-hush.” The guitarist also said The Rolling Stones will discuss recording a new album.

“We’re going to talk about that in July and see,” Richards said according to Rolling Stone. “I mean, I’d love to get some tracks down and see what songs we’ve got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I’d love to cut some tracks, yeah.”

But it’s not like The Rolling Stones have been completely idle since their “Bigger Bang” tour wrapped in London five years ago. The band held rehearsals in New York City and Weehawken, N.J., while a film crew shot footage for a 50th anniversary documentary directed by Brett Morgen to be released in the fall.

Evidently a few years of inactivity hasn’t affected the band.

“Having screened through 50 years of material over the last six months, I would rank it up there with anything I’ve heard from them,” Morgen said. “They were extremely tight.”
