Summer of 1984 was a big year for Wham! The group’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” was all over radio and MTV, soon to be followed by another huge seller, “Careless Whisper.”

Wham! called it quits in 1986 with Michael going on to a successful solo career while Ridgeley pursued his love for auto racing.

Now there are rumblings that Michael and Ridgeley may do it again. London’s Daily Mirror newspaper says the two musicians may reunite for one night only in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the release of “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.”

Of course, no one is actually on record saying Wham! might reform. Instead, the Mirror is quoting an “insider” source claiming that, because the anniversary “coincides with [Michael] releasing new material, it’s one of those ‘now or never’ moments.”

“They probably won’t do a long tour or release new material like Take That but they do want to commemorate the event with a big gig … and an even bigger party afterwards,” the source told the Mirror. “Things are still in the early stages but everybody is getting really excited about it.”

Wham! reunion or not, Michael will be hitting the road this year. The singer plans to return to his “Symphonica” tour in September, making good on United Kingdom and Europe dates that were postponed in 2011 when he was sidelined by pneumonia.
