Radiohead Postpones Shows After Stage Collapse

Radiohead will reschedule a number of upcoming European dates following a deadly stage collapse that happened hours before their concert at Toronto’s Downsview Park June 16.

The collapse, which killed drum tech Scott Johnson and injured three other crew members, also destroyed much of the band’s stage setup.

Radiohead posted a statement about the postponed dates on its website June 21, explaining that the collapse destroyed its light show, which was “unique and will take many weeks to replace.”

“The collapse also caused serious damage to our backline, some elements of which are decades old and therefore hard to replace.

“Whilst we all are dealing with the grief and shock ensuing from this terrible accident there are also many practical considerations to deal with,” the band said, noting upcoming dates beginning next week will be rescheduled.

June 30 – Rome, Italy, Ippodromo Delle Capannelle    
July 1 – Florence, Italy, Parco Delle Cascine    
July 3 – Udine, Italy, Piazza Maggio Arena    
July 4 – Codroipo, Italy, Villa Manin    
July 6 – Berlin, Germany, Kindl-Buehne Wuhlheide
July 7 – Berlin, Germany, Kindl-Buehne Wuhlheide    
July 9 – Vaud, Switzerland, Quarry Of St. Triphon

The band said it hopes to announce the rescheduled shows on June 27, along with information about how fans can get refunds if they are unable to attend the new dates.

Radiohead’s next scheduled appearances are two nights in Nimes, France, at Arenes July 10-11, followed by Bilbao BBK Live Festival in Bilbao, Spain, at Kobetamendi July 13.
