Provinssirock Takes A Drop

Provinssirock Festival didn’t expect to equal last year’s record-breaking attendance, but promoter Juha Koivisto was disappointed that bad weather kept the Finnish event below its usual figure of around 22,000.

He says the weather, which was perfect on the first day, deteriorated and forecasts of more rain were enough to make anyone want to stay home.

That cut the late sales and, after 20,000 turned up on the first day, 21,000 showed on the second and 15,000 came on the third.

The total of 56,000 was well down on the 75,000 that went to Provinssirock in 2011.

The festival has put a lot effort into its Green & Clean project, which ensured the site remained “very clean and very tidy” throughout the three days.

The Provinssirock lineup June 15-17 included Bat For Lashes, Example, Justice, Rise Against, Slayer, Mastodon, and Eagles Of Death Metal.
