Alice Cooper Opens Teen Center

Shock-rocker Alice Cooper has opened what he calls a creative sanctuary where troubled teens can go when school’s out.

The Arizona Republic reports Cooper will celebrate the opening of his Rock Teen Center in Phoenix with a free concert Friday.

Bands scheduled to perform at the Summer Rockfest include Run 2 Cover and Ricochet Reloaded.

Cooper, known for hit songs such as “Eighteen” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” has spent the last 11 years raising money for the recreation center through his Solid Rock Foundation.

The rec center will offer music classes that will be free to teens.

Cooper says he wants to give a creative outlet to kids living in areas of Phoenix dominated by drug and gang activity.
