We’re just a few weeks from the Olympic Games, July 27-Aug. 12, as athletes throughout the world descend on London to settle that age-old question about who is the best of the best.

And there will be plenty of music as well, with Sir Paul McCartney opening the Olympics July 27 and The Who, George Michael, Take That and Emeli Sandé on the Games’ closing ceremonies Aug. 12.

You’re also going to see a lot of Muse. With the band’s “Survival” having been adopted as the Olympics’ official song, plans call for the tune’s video to be shown during all sporting sessions, including when the athletes enter the stadium and the minutes leading up to winners being awarded their medals.

Of course, Olympic rules and regs call for a video of this importance to be accompanied by a quote from a very important person. In this case, the VIP is Muse’s very own Matt Bellamy.

“It’s a huge honor to have the track chosen as such a major part of the London 2012 Olympic Games,” Bellamy said. “I wrote it with the Games in mind as it expresses a sense of conviction and determination to win.”
