Gudinski Most Powerful Aussie

Michael Gudinski, managing director of Frontier Touring Company among many roles, was named the most powerful person in the Australian music industry.

“Like many on this list I’ve been working in this business for a long time, and more than anyone have constantly maintained an enormous passion for Australian music,” Gudinski said.

Gudinski’s son Matt, who runs One Voice agency, also made the list.

Put together by magazine publisher Street Press Australia, the “AMID Power 50” saw almost half represented by names from the live music sector.

Included were promoters Michael Chugg, AJ Maddah, Paul Dainty and Michael Coppel, festival organizers behind Splendour In The Grass, Big Day Out, Bluesfest, Fuzzy and Totem One Love Group, artist managers John Watson and Rae Harvey, and artists Sia, John Butler and Hilltop Hoods.

The list received criticism for its lack of recognition for publishers, commercial radio and bloggers.
