Scorchers’ Baggs Found Dead

Perry Baggs, 50, drummer and songwriter for Jason and the Scorchers, died at his home in Gooddlettsville, Tenn., after a long battle with diabetes.

His body was found in the home early July 12. Baggs co-wrote some of the Scorchers’ best-know punkabilly tunes including “White Lies” and “If Money Talks.”

Jason and the Scorchers reunited in 2007 for a pair of shows at Nashville’s Exit/In as a benefit for Baggs, and the band received a lifetime achievement award from the Americana Music Association in 2008.
