LN To Book Austin Shed
LN will schedule and produce major touring events at the 15,000-capacity shed, which will be located at the base of the Circuit’s observation tower.
Organizers expect to have the amphitheatre completed by the spring. It will include 6,500 reserved seats plus the lawn, and only the stage will be covered, architect Juan Miro told the Austin American-Statesman. Live Nation’s Bob Roux will play a prominent role in the programming.
“Live Nation has not only been successful booking and promoting amphitheaters in Houston and Dallas, but they’re also familiar with the Austin market,” Circuit President Steve Sexton told the paper. “Our agreement allows us to work with Live Nation and gives us latitude to work with C3 if we want to.”
The racetrack will manage day-to-day operations of the facility.
While the Circuit is scheduled to open for the 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in November, the venue will make its debut in early 2013 before the summer season.
