Gordon Among 2013 Jazz Masters

New York jazz club owner Lorraine Gordon, pianists Mose Allison and Eddie Palmieri, and saxophonist Lou Donaldson will receive 2013 Jazz Masters awards, given annually by the National Endowment for the Arts.

They will be honored at New York’s Lincoln Center in January and receive $25,000 fellowships. New York’s Village Vanguard is the city’s longest-running jazz club, opened 55 years ago by Gordon’s husband, Max.

Lorraine reopened, and continues to operate, the Greenwich Village landmark since Max’s death in 1989.
