A Renaissance Fall

The English prog band reveals details of its fall adventure, including a performance of one of its classic albums along with other fan favorites.

Founded in 1969 by Keith Relf and Jim McCarty as a somewhat experimental project combining classical music with folk and rock, Renaissance hit its 1970s stride after the Yardbirds veterans departed the group. With vocalist Annie Haslam and guitarist Michael Dunford, Renaissance moved into orchestral territory with the release of its 1974 album, Turn Of The Cards. Other albums such as Scheherazade And Other Stories and Novella helped established the band in the ’70s progressive rock genre.

Now Haslam and Dunford are heading up a Renaissance lineup for the new millennium. Today’s band includes keyboardist Rave Tesar, bassist/vocalist David J. Keyes, keyboardist vocalist Jason Hart and drummer Frank Pagano.

Along with Renaissance’s signature tunes, the fall tour will also include the band performing Novella in its entirety as well as revisiting Scheherazade And Other Stories. Playing mostly East Coast cities, the tour begins in Washington, D.C. Here’s the routing:
