Cat Power’s Fall Plans
Due out Sept. 4 on Matador, Sun is described by the singer/songwriter as “a rebirth.” Cat Power, aka Chan Marshall performed and produced the album by herself. Sun was recorded over the past three years in a studio she built in Malibu, Calif., as well as Silver Lake, Calif.; Miami and Paris.
Her most recent release of original tunes is 2006’s The Greatest. In 2008 Cat Power put out Jukebox, her second collection of cover songs.
“Moon Pix was about extreme isolation and survival in the crazy struggle,” Cat Power said about her 1998 album. “Sun is don’t look back, pick up, and go confidentially into your own future, to personal power and fulfillment.”
