Louise Mensch Leaves UK Politics

Conservative MP Louise Mensch, wife of Q Prime management co-president Peter Mensch, is leaving the House Of Commons and moving to the U.S. to be with her family.

As a backbencher, the MP for Corby, Northamptonshire, shot to prominence as a member of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee that investigated the News Of The World phone-hacking scandal.

In 2011 the former Louise Bagshawe married Mensch, whose artist roster includes Metallica, Jimmy Page, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Josh Groban and Muse, among others.

Before joining the Tories and winning Corby in the general election of 2010, the former author also had some music industry experience in various roles at MTV Europe, EMI and Sony.

“As you know, I have been struggling for some time to find the best outcome for my family life, and have decided, in order to keep us together, to move to New York,” she said in her resignation letter to British Prime Minister David Cameron. “With the greatest regret, I am thus resigning as a MP.”

Her departure means there will now be a by-election in Corby and early newspaper speculation says London Mayor Boris Johnson is a possible candidate to replace her.
