Gotye Shines At Chart Awards
Gotye’s global chart success was also repeated in his home country.
His 10-times-platinum single “Somebody That I Used To Know” picked up Highest Selling Single and the triple-platinum Making Mirrors was named Highest Selling Album at the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) No. 1 Chart Awards.
Held at Sydney’s Ivy Sunroom Aug. 10, it celebrated the 17 homegrown acts who topped the weekly singles, album and music DVD charts between August 2010 and Aug. 6 this year.
These included AC/DC, Keith Urban, Missy Higgins, The Wiggles and The Temper Trap, as well as popster Reece Mastin, R&B singers Guy Sebastian and Karise Eden, hip-hoppers Hilltop Hoods and Drapht, dance troupe Justice Crew and gospel Hillsong United.
During the event, David Albert, CEO of AC/DC’s Sydney-based Australian label Alberts, revealed that the veteran band will mark its 40th anniversary in 2013 with a world tour and studio album.
