Soundwave Snares Metallica, J-Lo Makes Aussie Debut

In the surprise announcement of the Australian summer festival season, Metallica was announced as headliners of the five-city hard rock Soundwave festival Feb. 23 to March 4.

Among major acts unveiled for the 2013 fest were Linkin Park, Blink-182 (with drummer Travis Barker who was severely injured in a 2008 plane crash ), A Perfect Circle, The Offspring, Paramore, Garbage, Tomahawk, Stone Sour, Kyuss Lives, Anthrax and Sum 41.

Jennifer Lopez Makes Aussie Debut

After 13 years of chart success in Australia, Jennifer Lopez makes her stage debut end of the year.

Frontier Touring Company confirmed that Lopez’s “Dance Again World Tour” plays five arenas Dec. 6-18. The shows downunder take the total number of dates on her world tour to more than 60.

Frontier Touring also confirmed U.S. electro-hop group Far East Movement, with U.S. pop duo Karmin, for six theatre/club shows Sept. 16-28.

But Frontier’s five-city joint theatre tour with Illusive, Bell Biv DeVoe and Ginuwine, was canceled a day before its first date on Aug. 9.

Alexisonfire’s nine-date, eight-city farewell tour sees them make two Australian stops for Chugg Entertainment: Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Dec. 11 and Melbourne’s Festival Hall Dec. 12.

North Carolina’s Jonathan Wilson makes his Australian debut in September for PopFrenzy, and Portland’s Grails makes theirs in October for Lifeisnoise.
