Having The Shadowboxers back Amy Ray and Emily means electrified versions of selections from the Indigo Girls’ 25-plus year career, including their latest album, Beauty Queen Sister.

But not all upcoming dates are with The Shadowboxers. The Indigo Girls are doing their first-ever symphony tour for which they’ve enlisted musical arrangers Sean O’Loughlin (Chris Isaak, Feist, The Decemberists, Josh Ritter) and Stephen Barber (Rosanne Cash, Alejandro Escovedo, John Legend) to write the orchestral charts.

While most symphony dates take place before the run with The Shadowboxers, the Indigo Girls have no plans of discontinuing the shows, having recently booked a gig with the Oregon Symphony for October and one with the Louisville Orchestra for early 2013.
