Right now the Orbital itinerary is definitely West Coast centric, with the Hartnolls appearing in California, Oregon and Washington plus a gig in British Columbia during September followed by one month later by Moogfest.

Although Orbital played a few U.S. dates in 2010 this will be the first time the group has toured America since 2001.

Orbital’s new album, Wonky, is currently available via iTunes. I vinyl edition will be issued Aug. 28.

Here’s the routing as it stands so far:

Sept. 22 – San Bernardino, Calif., Nocturnal Wonderland
Sept. 24 – San Francisco, Calif., Regency Ballroom
Sept. 26 – Vancouver, British Columbia, Vogue Theatre
Sept. 27 – Seattle, Wash., Paramount Ballroom (Decibel Festival)
Sept. 28 – Portland, Ore., Roseland Theatre
Oct. 27 – Asheville, N.C., Moogfest

East Coast dates are forthcoming.

Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll sends his greetings while waxing nostalgically about days long past.

“I really miss playing in America,” Hartnoll said. “We’ve done some of our best gigs there over the years. Having done our first ever tour in 1992 with Meat Beat Manifesto we used to be quite regular. This has been the longest we’ve gone without touring the states so it’s well overdue! We’re really looking forward to returning and seeing what you’ve all been up to while we were away.
