South Dakota Arena Donation

The University of South Dakota’s quest to build a $50 million basketball and volleyball arena is a little closer to reality thanks to a $20 million donation from the area’s Sanford Health.

USD officials began fundraising efforts last year for the proposed 6,000-capacity arena and a sports medicine building that would connect to the 10,000-seat DakotaDome, home to the South Dakota Coyotes.

The arena is said to be the cornerstone of the $70 million project that would include DakotaDome renovations, a track and field and soccer complex, and football and basketball practice facilities.
