Baroness Bus Crash Update

When Baroness’ Wednesday morning tour bus crash was first reported it wasn’t clear which passengers were seriously injured. The most recent update from the Savannah, Ga., metal act says that three band members are still hospitalized.

Baroness was on its way to Southampton, United Kingdom, to play a show Wednesday night when its tour bus crashed near Bath, U.K., falling 30 feet from a viaduct.

BBC News reported Wednesday that all nine people on board were injured, including two people who were trapped in the vehicle and suffered multiple fractures. The other seven members reportedly had minor injuries. According to The Daily Telegraph, the bus driver was one of the two people who had to be rescued with hydraulic equipment.

Baizley broke his left arm and left leg and drummer while Blickle and bassist Maggioni each suffered fractured vertebrae. Guitarist/vocalist Pete Adams has already been treated and released from the hospital.

As for the crew, three of the five members on the bus have also been treated and released. The driver was still in critical condition Thursday and one other member of the crew was still undergoing testing.

Baroness ended the post by thanking fans for their support “during this extremely difficult time.”

On Wednesday the band postponed all tour dates until further notice. In addition to more European dates, Baroness had U.S. gigs scheduled in late August and festival appearances booked from September through November.
