Ben Gibbard Fall Solo Shows

The Death Cab For Cutie frontman is headed out on the road all by himself this fall to support his debut solo album. Former Lives is due out Oct. 16 on Barsuk, three weeks after the first stop of the tour.

Before Ben Gibbard does his own thing he has a few more summer Death Cab gigs to play. This weekend the indie rock band will be in Japan for the Summer Sonic festival – Saturday in Tokyo and Sunday in Osaka. The last scheduled show is Aug. 22 in Honolulu at The Republik.

Gibbard launches his solo North American tour in Big Sur, Calif., Sept. 26. He’ll journey to the East Coast and play one gig in Canada before returning to the West Coast.

The tour features special guest Advance Base Nov. 1-11. Damien Jurado takes over the special guest role Nov. 13-14.

Tickets for most dates went on sale to the general public today. Los Angeles’ onsale is Aug. 18 and San Francisco’s onsale is Aug. 19.
