Smashing Pumpkins’ U.S. Plans

The Smashing Pumpkins take to arenas come October as it celebrates its latest album, “Oceana,” with a complete start-to-finish performance followed by a selection of classics and deep cuts.

With the exception of designating a starting point – Oct. 10 in Seattle – today’s announcement didn’t reveal a complete schedule. Instead, a list of markets was announced. Along with Seattle, the Pumpkins will play San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Denver, St. Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Boston, Brooklyn, Camden, N.J., Fairfax, Va., and Uncasville, Conn.

The band released dates for Canada earlier this week.

Expect plenty eye candy from the band this time around. Sean Evans, who assisted Roger Waters on his latest “Wall” tour, is working with new video-mapping technology to “create something new and previously unseen,” according to the Smashing Pumpkins’ camp.

Particulars such as date, city and venue will be filled in shortly. A Citi PrivatePass presale begins Aug. 27.

There will also be a limited number of various VIP packages available, some including a three-song backstage performance by the band along with a Q&A, on-site VIP concierge, autographed limited edition tour poster, and, of course, a copy of Oceana.
