The Grammy-nominated artist has gone through some changes during the past 12 months. Considered to be the world’s first Hasidic reggae superstar, Matisyahu ended more than a decade of whisker growth when he walked into a New York City Supercuts and left his beard on the salon’s floor.

He has also changed coasts, having recently moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles.  His fourth studio album, Spark Seeker, was released on his Fallen Sparks Records imprint via Thirty Tigers / Red in July.

But short hair, a new home and his own label aren’t the only new things in Matisyahu’s life. He’ll make his big screen debut come the end of this month in Sam Raimi’s “The Possession.” Appearing as Jewish exorcist Tzadok, Matisyahu tries to save a young girl possessed by an evil spirit. “The Possession” lands in movie theaters Aug. 31.

Matisyahu launches his college tour in Fort Collins, Colo., Oct. 10 and wraps in San Antonio Nov. 21. Stops along the way include Ventura, Calif., Greenville, S.C., Athens, Ga., Ann Arbor, Mich., Kansas City and Dallas.
