Changes: Journey, Duran Duran

Bad weather and bad health result in two notable changes in fabric of the concert universe today as tropical storm Isaac forces Journey to reschedule tonight’s Louisiana gig. Meanwhile, Nick Rhodes’ continuing bad health means Duran Duran won’t be playing Ohio tonight.

As weather forecasters keep watch on Isaac, updating the storm to hurricane status and predicting it will make landfall in the New Orleans area within the next 24 hours, Journey has decided to postpone tonight’s engagement at the Cajun Dome in Lafayette.

The new date for the show is Oct. 16. According to the band’s website, current touring partners Pat Benatar with Neil Giraldo, and Loverboy will appear on the new date.

Keyboardist Rhodes is still under the weather, meaning Duran Duran won’t play the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio, tonight.

Rhodes’ medical problems resulted in Duran Duran postponing its Saturday and Sunday shows in Atlantic City and Pittsburgh, respectively.

Although Duran Duran said it was trying to reschedule the weekend shows, there was no mention of a new Kettering date when the band announced the latest change in its schedule.

At first, the band said doctors suspected the keyboardist was suffering from exhaustion. However, when announcing the Sunday postponement, the band said doctors suspected Rhodes’ health issues were brought on by a viral infection.

Touring in support of All You Need Is Now, Duran Duran’s next show is scheduled for Aug. 29 in Highland Park, Ill., at the Ravinia Festival at Ravinia Park.
