No More ‘Sweet Caroline’ At Penn St.

Penn State University will discontinue its tradition of singing Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” during football games this year as part of the fallout from the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Officials reportedly feel the lyrics, “touching you, touching me” would be perceived as inappropriate after the scandal, according to the Altoona Mirror.

Diamond was inspired to write the song in the 1960s by the then-11-year-old Caroline Kennedy.
