China Cancellations

A number of festivals and tours in the People’s Republic of China have suddenly evaporated, according to China Music Radar.

Summer tours by metal bands Megadeth and Caliban were postponed quite suddenly, the former because of “issues with the show license for the venue,” and the latter unilaterally by the promoter with no public explanation.

No replacement dates have been announced. Also, four smaller music festivals were canceled.

There has been no word yet if the major Modern Sky festival will take place as usual in October.

Another casualty is the burgeoning Zebra Music Festival, a project of the TV music station and content aggregator Zebra Media that can attract as many as 150,000 people to each of its city-centered events. It canceled its Xi’an edition.
