Duran Duran Nixes Remaining Dates

The other shoe has dropped for Duran Duran fans as the band cancels its remaining dates on its “All You Need Is Now” world tour due to Nick Rhodes illness.

News of Rhodes illness surfaced during the weekend when the band announced it was postponing its Aug. 25 show in Atlantic City, saying doctors believed the keyboardist was suffering from exhaustion. At that time the band said it was trying to reschedule the gig.

Sunday brought another postponement – Pittsburgh’s Stage AE – along with an announcement saying doctors believed a viral infection was causing Rhodes’ problems. Again the band said it was trying to reschedule the show.

Then came Tuesday and word that Duran Duran was nixing that night’s gig in Kettering, Ohio, at the Fraze Pavilion. However, unlike the previous announcements, the band didn’t mention any rescheduling attempts.

By the end of Tuesday the band announced it had canceled tonight’s show scheduled for the Ravinia Festival at Ravinia Park in Highland Park., Ill.. The message also said the band “is looking at whether it will be possible to reschedule” the missed shows.

Now, with only two shows left on the books, the band has decided to end their two-year global tour early. What’s more, the postponed dates have now moved into “canceled” territory.

From DuranDuran.com:

“All ticket holders for any of the shows that have been canceled should now apply for refunds at the point of purchase, as rescheduling these dates has not been possible given the venues’ upcoming season schedules and availability. Members of the band’s VIP Fan Community should contact Customer Service on the dedicated Community Website.”

Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa, Atlantic City, N.J.

The newly canceled shows are Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Orilla, Ontario, at Casino Rama Entertainment Centre. Click here for more information.
