Stones A Go?

There are rumors indicating The Rolling Stones will perform live in the coming months, possibly in London and New York sometime in the fall.

Citing those always reliable “inside sources” Showbiz 411 gossip columnist Roger Friedman says the band will play Nov. 26-27 at The O2 in London and Dec. 6-7 in Brooklyn at the new Barclays Center. Friedman says Sir Richard Branson is footing the bill to the tune of $25 million – outbidding Live Nation and AEG in a somewhat Pyrrhic victory – and will use the events to promote his VirginLive launch.  Because of the high cost of his winning bid, tickets could run as high as $500 with nosebleed seats going for $200, according to Friedman. The name of Australian promoter Paul Dainty has been mentioned as being involved in the shows.

We called around – nobody is talking, but nobody is denying it, either.

But all may be revealed next week. A message on the band’s Facebook page states, “On Ruby Tuesday 4th September, some news is coming and we want you to be a part of it.”
