LaBelle Settles Toddler Concern
Patti LaBelle has forked over $100,000 for allegedly yelling at a mom and her toddler.
Roseanna Monk and her husband sued LaBelle last year for a 2010 incident, where LaBelle allegedly yelled at the mother and her child. The then 18-month-old Genevieve was apparently playing in the lobby of a Manhattan apartment building on the Upper West Side when the “Lady Marmalade” singer, who was staying there at the time, allegedly complained about it.
LaBelle was renting at the Trump Palace while she was in town for a recurring appearance in the Broadway musical “Fela!”
The matter apparently escalated quickly and, while Monk held her daughter, LaBelle allegedly called her the C-word, dropped an F-bomb and tossed bottled water on her, according to the New York Post. LaBelle was allegedly then held back by her entourage and hustled into a car.
The attorney for the Monks said LaBelle opted to settle before it went to a jury because the “adorable” Genevieve would have taken the stand.
LaBelle originally denied the charges and said the Monks were “more than 50 percent at fault.”
Roseanna, a former kindergarten teacher, told the Post all proceeds will be donated to the Hope & Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund.
“This is an opportunity for Patti LaBelle to help a lot of children, and I feel good about that,” she said.
