One Directions Go Separate Ways

Two bands named One Direction – the boy band and a punk rock band – have reached an agreement regarding the name.

The U.K. sensation will be allowed to keep its name, and the California rockers will change their name to Uncharted Shores.

The punk band has been using the name since 2009 and asked for an injunction stopping Simon Cowell’s company Syco Entertainment and Sony from using the name in all promotional materials.

The punk rockers also asked for money, specifically three times the profits raked in by the boy band, saying it had filed an application to trademark the name in February and has recorded two albums under the name.

Details were not disclosed but a statement said both parties are pleased with the resolution.
