McCartney Announces Houston, Edmonton Shows

Paul McCartney’s latest concert announcements represent a tale of two cities as one market announces the former Beatle’s return while another preps to host him for the first time ever.

Houston has received several visits from McCartney over the years, starting with The Beatles at the city’s Sam Houston Coliseum in 1965. Since then McCartney has revisited Houston, appearing with his band Wings in 1976 and returning with only his own name on the ticket in 1993, 2002 and 2005.

McCartney’s newly announced Houston show is for the city’s Minute Maid Park Nov. 14. Tickets go on sale Sept. 14. McCartney’s website has more information.

It’s a different story for Edmonton, Alberta, which has never hosted McCartney, Wings or The Beatles.

Needless to say, the Canadian city is very excited. With Live Nation saying it would announce “a major historical concert event” this morning, McCartney quickly rose to the top of everyone’s rumor list. Even the Edmonton Sun was thinking Macca, posting “Paul McCartney rumoured for show” in big, impossible-to-ignore letters at the top of its website.

Turns out the newspaper and the local rumor mill were spot-on. McCartney is scheduled to play Rexall Place Nov. 28. Tickets go on sale Sept. 14. Click here for more information.
