My Morning Jacket December Shows

My Morning Jacket fans, it’s time to make your concert plans for the end of the year. If you can get over to the East Coast in December you’re in luck because the band has announced a three-night residency and a New Year’s Eve show.

The residency is set for Port Chester, N.Y., at The Capitol Theatre Dec. 27-29. The performances will be part of MMJ’s “Spontaneous Curation Series” with no songs repeated during any of the three nights.

Previous Spontaneous Curation shows have featured setlists determined by fan club members and Twitter followers. A day or so before the shows the band asks fans to tweet their song requests using a specific hashtag. This is the time to ask the band to play your favorite tune from It Still Moves or maybe even The Tennessee Fire.

Tickets to the Capitol Theatre gigs come with a complimentary download of the night’s show delivered shortly after the performance.

Jim James & the gang will say farewell to 2012 with a New Year’s Eve gig at Boston’s Agganis Arena, with support from Preservation Hall Jazz Band. An announcement from MMJ notes that this show is not part of the Spontaneous Curation Series “in order to ensure an evening full of surprises.”

A pre-sale for members of the band’s Roll Call fan club begins Wednesday, Sept. 12. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Sept. 14.
