Norah Jones, Swans Return

Norah Jones returns to Australia  after seven years, doing five theatres Feb. 15-24 through Frontier Touring Company.

Frontier also locked in Swans for two club dates in Sydney and Melbourne before their Feb. 16 appearance at the ATP festival and have Ireland’s The Script doing one show, at Sydney’s Metro Sept. 24 to play their new album, #3.

After three sold-out visits, Boyz II Men return for their fourth visit Nov. 16-30. Platinum Touring booked them into nine theatres.

Following a run in July with his band The Tea Party, guitarist and frontman Jeff Martin is doing a 27-date solo run Nov. 8 to Dec. 23. Martin now lives in Australia.

Babys/Bad English singer John Waite makes his first visit downunder, to do a “greatest hits” set in 14 clubs and theatres Nov. 1-25. He is accompanied by guitarist Keri Kelli, who’s toured here frequently as part of bands for Alice Cooper and Slash.

Cannibal Corpse will do five dates Oct. 4-9 on their way to dates in Thailand and Japan.

It took Brian Ritchie of Violent Femmes three years, but he finally got David Byrne to headline MONA FOMA festival in Tasmania, which he curates.

Byrne and his current Love This Giant collaborator St. Vincent play Hobart Jan. 20. In its fifth year, MONA FOMA developed a reputation for fresh experimental ideas, and is up for best festival in this year’s Helpmann Awards.
